Jimenez suffered the elbow injury while colliding with center fielder Charlie Tilson in the first inning of the White Sox's 11-0 loss to the Royals on Tuesday night. After, he felt numbness in his arm and fingers for a couple hours afterward, general manager Rick Hahn told reporters in Kansas City on Wednesday. For that reason, the White Sox chose to send Jimenez back to Chicago for further evalation.

Jimenez may be sidelined for around two weeks, Hahn said.

"He’s already feeling better today," Hahn said, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. "The examination today showed improvement from last night, and everyone is optimistic."

Jimenez, 23, is hitting .244 with 17 homers and 39 RBIs in 67 games. He leads American League rookies in homers.

In other moves Wednesday, Chicago purchased the contract of infielder Ryan Goins from Triple-A Charlotte and outrighted right-hander Juan Minaya to Charlotte.

Goins, 31, was hitting .322 with 10 homers and 48 RBIs in 83 games at Triple-A. He will start at shortstop for the White Sox when they face the Royals on Wednesday night.

Minaya had a 3.90 ERA in 22 appearances for the White Sox before they designated him for assignment recently.
