(670 The Score) The White Sox optioned outfielder Eloy Jimenez and right-hander Dylan Cease to Triple-A Charlotte as part of nine cuts from their spring training roster Tuesday.

The return of the two headlining prospects to the minor leagues was expected. Jimenez is expected to be called up several weeks into April. By delaying his big league arrival a bit, the White Sox will retain an extra year of contract control on Jimenez. If all goes to plan at Triple-A, Cease is expected to be called up later in the summer.

Additionally, the White Sox optioned right-hander Jordan Stephens and catcher Seby Zavala to Triple-A as well and outfielder Micker Adolfo to Double-A Birmingham. Chicago reassigned catcher Zack Collins, outfielder Luis Robert, right-hander Jimmy Lambert and right-hander Donn Roach to minor league camp.
