(670 The Score) It's safe to say right-hander Lucas Giolito has the attitude to match the high expectations that he's now carrying as one of the faces of the White Sox rebuild and after a he followed a strong stretch run in 2017 with an excellent spring this year.

"Very, very high," Giolito said when asked about his confidence level in an interview on the McNeil and Parkins Show on 670 The Score on Thursday afternoon. "I think to be a really good starting pitcher in the big leagues, you have to have kind of unwavering confidence, super high confidence, no matter if your previous start you got hit around or you walked a few guys. It's kind of like a reset. Every fifth day, you go out, start the game and have a chance to go out and give your best performance, give the team a really good chance to win. You just have to go out there with unwavering confidence every single time."

Giolito had a 2.38 ERA in seven starts after getting a late-season call-up in 2017. He's followed that with a 2.04 ERA in Cactus League play this spring.

So what are his goals this season?

"Personally, I'd say I want to throw 200 innings," Giolito said. "I feel like that's important as a starting pitcher, is to go out there and throw as many innings as possible. From there, if you're throwing 200 innings, you're probably doing something right.

"Just fill up the strike zone and continue to do what I'm doing. I don't want to overcomlicate things. I just want to go out there and give my best effort every single time out."
