(670 The Score) First baseman Jose Abreu and the White Sox avoided arbitration by settling on a $16-million salary for 2019 on Friday.

Abreu, 31, hit .265 with 22 homers, 78 RBIs and a .798 OPS in 128 games in 2018, when he dealt with several injuries. Abreu will be in the final year of his contract in 2019, after which he's set to become a free agent.

The White Sox also settled with their three other arbitration-eligible players: reliever Alex Colome ($7.325), left-hander Carlos Rodon ($4.2 million) and infielder Yolmer Sanchez ($4.625 million).

Noon on Friday marked the deadline for teams and players to reach a deal before they had to exchange salary figures that can be used in arbitration.
