(670 The Score) The White Sox have bolstered their bullpen by adding a reliable veteran.

Chicago and righty reliever Steve Cishek have agreed on a one-year, $6-million deal, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported Tuesday. The contract also includes an option for a second year that could bring the total to $12 million, Passan reported.

Cishek, 33, is coming off back-to-back strong seasons for the Cubs, posting a 2.18 ERA in 2018 and a 2.95 ERA in 2019. He's as durable as relievers come, making a combined 150 appearances over the past two seasons. He has averaged more than 57 appearances per season in his 10-year career. He has a career 2.69 ERA.

In early December, Cishek expressed his desire to remain in Chicago during an interview on Inside the Clubhouse on 670 The Score.

"It'd be great," Cishek said. "I love the city of Chicago. Our family really loves it, and we've enjoyed our experience here the last couple of years. I'd love to be able to do that again."

Cishek projects to be a setup man for the White Sox.
