Chatwood has posted a 3.60 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 17 appearances, including one start, this season. He was a member of the Cubs' rotation for the first half of the 2018 season before losing his spot late last July after prolonged command issues and the team's acquisition of left-hander Cole Hamels.

Hendricks has landed on the injured list with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. The Cubs have maintained that the ailment isn't serious, with Maddon suggesting on the Laurence Holmes Show on 670 The Score earlier Tuesday that Hendricks would pitch through the issue if it were the heat of a pennant race in September.
