Mike Mulligan and Zach Zaidman conducted the daily 5 at 5 segment, which began with a discussion about the Rams' trade with the Jaguars to acquire Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The Rams gave up first-round picks in 2020 and 2021 and a fourth-round pick in 2021. That led to the guys sharing their appreciation for the Bears' trade to acquire outside linebacker Khalil Mack from the Raiders in 2018, and they debated whether Ramsey could have a "Mack-style" effect on the Rams. They then discussed the Bears' upcoming matchup against the Saints. Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks and right guard Kyle Long have been placed on the injured reserve list while Saints running back Alvin Kamara has a high ankle sprain and cornerback P.J. Williams is serving a two-game suspension. Which team will have a more difficult time filling those slots? The morning crew also had a conversation about Bears quarterback coach Dave Ragone's comment that comparing Mitchell Trubisky to draft classmates Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs and Deshaun Watson of the Texans "has never been constructive." Is Ragone damning Trubisky with faint praise? The guys then discussed whether winning a minor league Gold Glove means more for Cubs prospect Jhonny Pereda at the catcher position or White Sox prospect Nick Madrigal at second base. Finally, the crew discussed whether Lakers star LeBron James has damaged his legacy with his remarks on the NBA-China dispute. (10/16/19)
