5@5: Are Cubs on verge of running away with NL Central?
David Haugh and Laurence Holmes conducted the daily 5 at 5 segment, which began with a discussion about how many games the Cubs will win in their series against the Padres this weekend and a conversation about whether they will run away with the NL Central. The guys then discussed whether White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu was sending the front office a message about top prospect Luis Robert when he said, "We need to deal with what we have here until the organization gives us a chance to bring the people up that can help us here." The morning crew also debated which player is harder for White Sox fans to watch: Padres third baseman Manny Machado or shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr.? Later, they had a conversation about who will be the next Chicago baseball player to enter the Hall of Fame before discussing what the tone and message delivered by Bears coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace will be when they meet the media Sunday ahead of training camp.
