(670 The Score) Given the disgruntled nature of the fan base, we knew locally in Chicago that the Bulls' hiring of Arturas Karnisovas as their new executive vice president of basketball operations would be well-received.

What was going to matter more all along was the reception it would draw from outside observers across the NBA landscape. And on Wednesday afternoon, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban became the latest to praise the Bulls for turning to Karnisovas, the Nuggets' former general manager, to lead the way.

"I thought they were smart," Cuban said on the McNeil & Parkins Show. "He would've been a leading candidate for anybody, and if you just look at the player development that the Nuggets have done, they've been really good. So I thought it was a really good move on the part of the Reinsdorfs."

Karnisovas is now on the hunt for a general manager. As of Tuesday, he had interviews lined up with Clippers assistant general manager Mark Hughes, 76ers senior vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley and Magic assistant general manager Matt Lloyd.

Mavericks assistant general manager Michael Finley, a product of Proviso East, is another candidate who has been tied to the Bulls in the rumor mill. Have the Bulls asked Cuban permission to speak with Finley for the job?

"You know what, I don't know," Cuban said. "I got an email, but I'm so far behind. Maybe."

Maybe?

"I've been so caught up in this other stuff, I don't know," Cuban said, referencing his role on President Donald Trump's sports advisory committee. "I don't know. I hope so. It's only because I've been so behind (that I don't know)."

Cuban would grant the Bulls permission to speak with Finley.

"Of course, I love Michael Finley," Cuban said. "He's great at what he does. He's had such a positive impact for the Mavs. It's incredible."
