(670 The Score) Cubs shortstop Javier Baez was a late scratch from the lineup against the Phillies on Thursday evening due to an illness.

In Baez's place, David Bote was shifted to shortstop after initially being slated to play second base. Ian Happ will play second base for the Cubs as they close out the series.

Somewhat oddly, Baez's removal from the lineup caused manager Joe Maddon to make a number of changes. Albert Almora Jr. had initially been tabbed to lead off, but after pulling Baez from the fifth spot in the lineup, Maddon also moved Anthony Rizzo from cleanup to leadoff. It will mark the second time that Rizzo leads off this season. He did it 31 times in 2018.

Almora was dropped to ninth in the lineup, with right-hander Yu Darvish batting eighth.
