(670 The Score) A pair of young pitchers whom the White Sox are hoping can be key contributors in 2020 will should be good to go on the health front when games return.

Right-hander Michael Kopech and left-hander Carlos Rodon are both expected to be ready, pitching coach Don Cooper said, with Kopech ahead of Rodon on the ramp-up timeline.

"We don't even know the rules yet, you know what I mean?" Cooper said in an interview with Matt Spiegel and Mark Grote on 670 The Score on Thursday afternoon. "So let's not get ahead of ourselves. But what I will tell you is Michael Kopech is good. Carlos Rodon is good, climbing.

"We're good shape physically right now. Michael is back from his injury. Carlos is just about back, and he's going to be ready."

Kopech, 24, missed the entire 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September 2018. The expectation was the White Sox would slow roll him in spring training and limit his workload in the minor leagues early in the season, but the coronavirus pandemic that will lead to a truncated campaign may have changed that equation. In a shortened season, the White Sox don't have to worry about Kopech's innings total as much.

Rodon, 27, had Tommy John surgery in May 2019. He had a 5.19 ERA in seven starts before being sidelined by the injury. There has been speculation that the White Sox would use Rodon out of the bullpen in 2020.

While Kopech and Rodon are going to be medically cleared soon, it doesn't guarantee them anything. They'll still have to prove themselves with good form.

"Michael Kopech is good," Cooper said. "Every one of our pitchers right now, knock on wood, are good and where they need to be if and when we start to try to give us an edge to try to hit the ground running. It'll all come out in the wash, who's going to be on the 26-man roster, who's going to be on the taxi squad if that's the right name for it and who's going to be eligible for us to bring up."
