(670 The Score) Cubs right-hander Yu Darvish is incrementally making progress in his recovery from right triceps soreness and a right elbow impingement, but a return still isn't immiment.

It's expected to be "a number of weeks yet" before Darvish returns to game action for the Cubs, pitching coach Jim Hickey told Barry Rozner and Joe Ostrowski on 670 The Score on Thursday morning.

"I know he was throwing back to 105 feet before we left for the break," Hickey said. "I know that he came in over the break, he stayed in Chicago over the break and worked with some of the trainers there, so we'll just see where we're at.

"It's tough to say pitching in a major league game. But 10 to 14 days or so after playing catch, you end up getting on the mound, and then you would basically, based upon the time that you missed, you'd have to get on the mound a couple times. And then you'd have to build up to facing hitters, whether that was a live batting practice scenario (or something else). You'd have to do that a couple times. It's based upon how much you want to see him when he returned. Obviously, it's a little different for a relief pitcher than it is for a starter. But you're still talking about a number of weeks yet, I'm sure."

Darvish is 1-3 with a 4.95 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in eight starts this season. He was placed on the disabled list in late May.
