(670 The Score) The Cubs on Wednesday claimed left-hander Ian Clarkin off waivers from the White Sox, the third minor transaction between the two teams involving him in the past two months.

Clarkin, 23, was 4-5 with a 4.76 ERA in 25 appearances, including 12 starts, split between Class-A and Double-A in 2018. He was originally acquired by the White Sox from the Yankees in a trade in July 2017 that also included third baseman Todd Frazier, reliever David Robertson and reliever Tommy Kahnle.

The Cubs claimed Clarkin off waivers from the White Sox on Nov. 20. Six days later, the White Sox claimed him back from the Cubs on waivers, which then led to Wednesday's transaction.

The Cubs' 40-man roster stands at 39 players.
