(670 The Score) The Bears have found their answer at nickel cornerback, and it's not Bryce Callahan. The team will sign Buster Skrine to a three-year deal, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Monday evening.

Skrine can make up to $16.5 million with $8.5 million guaranteed, according to the report. The deal won't become official until the start of the new league year Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The 29-year-old Skrine, an eight-year NFL veteran, has nine interceptions in 123 career games. He played four seasons with the Browns from 2011-'14 before spending the past four with the jets. In signing Skrine, the Bears will almost certainly move on without Callahan.

Bears coach Matt Nagy spoke highly of Skrine before his team's matchup against the Jets in October.

"He’s one of the better nickels in this league, if not the best," Nagy said. "I mean, he’s good. He’s a good nickel in there."

The Bears also agreed to terms with former Seahawks running back Mike Davis on a two-year deal Monday evening and officially re-signed tight end Ben Braunecker earlier in the day.
