LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- It took nearly three weeks, but the Bears had their first fight in preseason practice Tuesday morning.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Back to work at Halas Hall, veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara and second-year receiver Javon Wims were involved in an altercation that included punches thrown by Wims. The two players were eventually separated after other teammates became involved. Amukamara and Wims made peace after the exchange.

"Coach wants to handle those personal matters," Amukamara said afterward. "However, because it's personal doesn't mean it's serious. Me and Juice, we're good. We dapped each other up after. Angers flared, and we just got in a little heated altercation."

The Bears had made it through the training camp portion of the preseason in Bourbonnais without any punches thrown -- the kind of peace rarely seen in NFL training camps, which often feature multiple fights. Guard Kyle Long and defensive lineman Akiem Hicks exchanged shoves during practice Sunday, but it wasn't anything that escalated.

But the fight between Amukamara and Wims was the first to include punches being thrown, all coming from Wims. Amukamara restrained himself from punching back, having learned from a fight at Nebraska with teammate Niles Paul.

Coach Matt Nagy brought Amukamara and Wims together to apologize.

"I got an education in teaching," Nagy said. "I should have it in psychology."

Injury report

Tight end Trey Burton (offseason sports hernia surgery) increased his activity during practice Tuesday, but Nagy stopped short of calling him a full participant. Receiver Anthony Miller (right ankle) and linebacker Aaron Lynch (shoulder) remained sidelined.
