(670 The Score) The offense of Bears coach Matt Nagy is one that embraces all of its available weapons, using versatility to put playmakers in advantageous positions.

That's why the Bears believe Cordarrelle Patterson is a natural fit for their system and why they added him on a two-year, $10-million deal this week. They see Patterson as a player who's dangerous as a receiver, capable of taking snaps at running back and dynamic in the kick return game. Patterson is second in NFL history with 30.0 yards per kick return, trailing only Bears legend Gale Sayers.

"Every chance I get with the ball in my hands, I try to make an explosive play," Patterson said on a teleconference Thursday.

Patterson joined two fellow new Bears -- running back Mike Davis and cornerback Buster Skrine -- at Halas Hall on Thursday to complete physicals and make their contracts with the team official. Among Patterson's first orders of business will be getting a contact number for team great Devin Hester so they can talk playmaking.

"It doesn't matter where they line me up, I just want to go out and make a play for my team," Patterson said.

Patterson will factor into a Chicago return game that finished dead last with only 19.1 yards per kick return in 2018. Patterson averaged 28.8 yards per kick return with the Super Bowl champion Patriots.

How he fits with the Bears on offense and the ways that Nagy will utilize his abilities remain unclear for now. But when Patterson got the call from Chicago, it was a "no-brainer" as to where he was going.

"Just the culture they’ve got, the swag they’ve brought in this whole entire year, the great year they had," he said. "The culture their coach brought in, I want to be a part of that culture.
