(670 The Score) Chicago is now one of six finalists to be a hub city for the NHL's expanded Stanley Cup playoffs after four other locations were recently cut from consideration, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reported.

Las Vegas, Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Los Angeles are also still in consideration, according to the report. Las Vegas is viewed as a front-runner to be one of the two cities chosen. Dallas, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Minneapolis/St. Paul have been cut from consideration recently.

The NHL will select two hub cities to hold its 24-team restart of its suspended season in July. Exact dates for the start of this playoff have yet to be determined.

The Blackhawks, who will be included as the No. 12 seed in the Western Conference bracket, played the most recent game in Chicago on March 11. The NHL suspended its season due to the coronavirus outbreak a day later.

Helping Chicago's case of late is that coronavirus cases have dropped significantly in the city and state of Illinois.
