(670 The Score) The Blackhawks selected Canadian center Kirby Dach with the No. 3 overall pick in the NHL Draft on Friday evening.

Dach, 18, had 73 points (25 goals, 48 assists) in 62 games for the Saskatoon Blades of Western Hockey League this past season. He has an NHL-ready body, standing 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, and the Blackhawks will give him "every chance" to make the opening night roster out of training camp next season, general manager Stan Bowman said on NBC Sports Network shortly after making the pick.

"He's certainly got the profile, as far as physically," Bowman said. "He's got NHL size right now."

The Blackhawks' hope is that he can transform into a top-line center for their future.

"I watched him close and really fell in love with his game," Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said on NBC Sports Network shortly after making the pick. "He brings so much to the table. I think the thing that was really impressive was his competitiveness down the stretch. He showed that not only does he have the size and the skill and the talent to make plays and do the offensive things you want a top player to do, but he was so competitive in the playoffs. He's a hard guy to play against. That combination of size, speed, skill and intensity, it's hard to find those guys."
