A day after announcing that rookie forward Kirby Dach will remain with the team all season, the Blackhawks recalled 19-year-old defenseman Adam Boqvist from AHL Rockford. Chicago drafted Boqvist eighth overall in 2018, and he has yet to play in the NHL.

His promotion comes as the Blackhawks have struggled early on, amassing just eight points in 11 games. Chicago sits in a tie for last place in the Central Division.

Boqvist had played in six games for Rockford and recorded his first professional goal in North America against San Antonio on Wednesday evening.

Boqvist recorded 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) in 54 regular-season games for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League in 2018-'19.

The Blackhawks next play at the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.
