Blackhawks Acquire Slater Koekkoek From Lightning

Chicago sent Jan Rutta to Tampa Bay as the teams also swapped draft picks.

(670 The Score) The Blackhawks acquired defenseman Slater Koekkoek and a fifth-round pick in 2019 from the Lightning in exchange for defenseman Jan Rutta and a seventh-round pick in 2019 on Friday, they announced.

Koekkoek, 24, has split time between the Lightning and AHL this season. He had one goal in nine games with Tampa Bay and one assist in five games with the Syracuse Crunch. Koekkoek was the 10th overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 2012 draft. He appeared in 85 games across five seasons with the Lightning.

Rutta had split time between the Blackhawks and AHL Rockford Icehogs this season. In two seasons with Chicago, Rutta recorded eight goals and 18 assists.
