Blackhawks Finalize Deals With 3 Youngsters

(670 The Score) The Blackhawks have finalized the financial terms with defenseman Ian Mitchell, signed forward Pius Suter to a one-year deal and signed defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk to a two-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Mitchell, 21, had signed an entry-level deal with the Blackhawks back in April, choosing to forgo his season season at the University of Denver. He'll now work on a three-year contract with a $925,000 salary cap hit.

The Blackhawks selected Mitchell in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He was named a first-team All-American as a junior this past season, when he recorded 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists).

Suter, 24, signed a one-year deal with a $925,000 salary cap hit. He recorded a league-best 53 points (30 goals, 23 assists) in 50 games for the ZSC Lions of Switzerland's National League-A last season, when he also received MVP honors. Suter represented Sweden at the 2018 Olympics, recording three goals and two assists in four games.

Kalynuk, 23, had 28 points (seven goals, 21 assists) while serving as team captain for Wisconsin as a junior this past season. He earned all-Big Ten honors. Kalynuk signed a two-year deal with a $925,000 salary cap hit.
