Cubs Activate Right-Hander Eddie Butler

Right-hander Luke Farrell has been optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

(670 The Score) The Cubs have activated right-hander Eddie Butler from the 60-day disabled list, they announced Tuesday afternoon.

In a corresponding move, Chicago optioned right-hander Luke Farrell back to Triple-A Iowa.

Butler, 27, has been on the DL since April 20 with a strained right groin. He made five rehab starts at Triple-A at the end of his recovery, mostly struggling in going 0-3 with an 8.10 ERA. Butler had a 4.30 ERA in 14 2/3 innings across six appearances early this season. He had a 3.95 ERA in 13 appearances for the Cubs last season.

The 27-year-old Farrell is 3-4 with a 5.17 ERA in 20 appearances for the Cubs, including two starts. He struggled in a 7-1 setback to the Diamondbacks on Monday night, taking the loss in allowing six runs, all earned, in 3 1/3 innings.
