Blackhawks To Honor The Late Mikita

The team will wear a jersey patch with Mikita's No. 21 in his honor.

(670 The Score) The Chicago Blackhawks will honor the late Stan Mikita on the night of their Oct. 7 home opener at the United Center and throughout the 2018-'19 season.

Mikita's career and legacy will be remembered during a pregame ceremony before the Blackhawks hold their home opener. A Blackhawks player for 22 years, Mikita died on Aug. 7 at the age of 78.

The Blackhawks will wear a patch on their jerseys with Mikita's No. 21 and have the same logo painted behind the nets on home ice at the United Center. 

Mikita is the Blackhawks' all-time leader in points with 1,467 and games played at 1,394. His career began in the 1958-'59 season and lasted through the 1979-'80 season, all with the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks retired Mikita's jersey number in 1980. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.
